Movie Review: GRIMCUTTY

The other night I finally watched GRIMCUTTY on Hulu.

I first heard about it from my Instagram pal, @wickedcatclothing…after watching the trailer on her timeline…I had to check it out!

A suburban teen girl and her little brother must stop a terrifying internet meme brought to life by the hysteria of their parents.

WHAT DID I THINK?

I thought it was hella dope. I’m not going to lie though – when I first saw HOW the Grimcutty looked in the trailer – I was nervous. I thought it looked like a bad Halloween costume…BUT…I gave it a shot and man! I’m glad I did. It totally works and is slightly freaky…like this sucker is fast! 😂

I thought the story was interesting and well done. I thought it was cool how it played in to today’s internet scary memes and challenges.

Anyone remember MOMO?

I thought having Asha (Sara Wolfkind) as a social media influencer – trying to get views and interaction with her “whispering” channel. (Not sure what the proper name is but I watch a lot of them on TikTok)

I just thought it was spot on with what some teenagers and adults go through with their social media channels.

I thought the cast was great! It was cool seeing Shannyn Sossamon in this. I’ve been a fan for quite some time now. Usman Ally who plays Asha’s dad. HOLY CRAP BALLS! He was scary good. Brother played by Callan Farris was perfect. He and Sara were great together. Cassidy played by Tate Moore was dropping knowledge on Asha – the “wow” comment and explanation. Perfect. 😂 Oh and I can’t forget about ‘intense’ mom – played by Alona Tal. She was slightly cra cra but with good reason, I guess. 😂

I think GRIMCUTTY is totally worth the watch…especially during this Halloween season. If you have Hulu, check it out. If you don’t have Hulu, find a friend who does…bring some pizza over and watch the movie!
